Founded in 2016 in Rexburg Idaho, Purity Natural Elements is a small family owned business that provides natural solutions to life’s common challenges. Our goal is to change individuals’ lives by proving relief in small and simple ways. To accomplish this goal, we design, manufacture, and sell our own line of chemical free, natural products.
Shayla Beard – Owner
At age two, Shayla became sick with a life threatening illness. For years, doctors struggled to understand why her body struggled. No answers came. She spent birthdays in the hospital and by age 6 received surgery on her ureter. Around this time, doctors discovered that her right kidney was smaller than her left. The doctors were puzzled by this discovery, and further testing yielded very little understanding. By age 12, Shayla developed an autoimmune disease called Hashimotos. More tests were run and not enough answers were obtained. At age 17 she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and had constant aches in her shoulders and lower back. It wasn’t until many years later, through an unexpected miracle, that a talented functional medicine clinic was able to diagnose Shayla with a rare disease transmitted by the Lone Star Tick.
Through these struggles, Shayla grew to love the medical field. She would often carry a first aid kit in her backpack to help injured children on her way to school. In high school, she lettered in sports medicine and planned to become a doctor. During her undergraduate schooling, she met her husband and was introduced to the world of herbs by her mother-in-law, Pamela. In the beginning, Shayla was very skeptical of alternative medicine. Her medical upbringing created the mentality that quality medications created immediate results, and that herbs were an archaic way to approach medicine. A few months after meeting Pamela, Shayla suffered a second degree steam burn to her right forearm that peeled the outer layer of skin. Pamela shared the Classic ointment with Shayla and through this tool, she was able to prevent her arm from scarring.
Shayla’s plans to become a doctor were derailed after having their first child. Crippling postpartum anxiety and depression led Shayla on a different journey to seek healing. With the short term aid of pharmaceutical antidepressants, long term use of supplements, and eventually the Balance ointment, Shayla was able to find the healing she was seeking. After this experience, Shayla came to believe that the miracle of modern medicine should be reserved for emergent life saving situations, but that herbs are for everyday healthy maintenance. Shayla is excited to share these products with others to help them find the same healing she has.
Jacob Beard – Owner
Jacob brings to the business a strong background of leadership, innovation, design, and customer/business relations.
A Journey of Perspective
Growing up in a home with depression and alternative medicine, Jacob was completely disinterested in all things natural. As a result, he pursued a career in Information Technology. He received a bachelor’s degree in business and innovation, and went on to work in a few different leadership positions in the IT world. His professional experience included project and team management, as well as high profile customer relations.
Starting at age 20, while still in college, Jacob began suffering from a series of debilitating diseases. Among these were degenerative disk disease and HNPP (a serious degenerative nerve condition which causes constant pain). Because of his hardworking nature, he was unwilling to spend the rest of his life disabled. He began visiting specialists all over the Western United States in search of answers. Nobody could give him hope. The pain and issues reached a point where he was in constant pain. Out of desperation, he turned to functional medicine specialists. One incredible functional medicine doctor took the time to work with Jacob and understand his issues. Over the course of 18 months, he learned about numerous underlying issues that his body was suffering from, and through significant diet changes, supplementation, and herbal based products, he was able to recover to a point where he now experiences virtually no pain or sickness. He still has the diseases, but they are now managed without the use of narcotics or other extreme measures.
This experience opened his eyes to the world of healing and natural products. Jacob also gained a desire to share healing with others. He spent 2 years pursuing trauma based medical knowledge. He received a certificate in herbal based trauma care from Herbal Medics Academy. He continues his studies to this day.
Jacob is excited to bring his knowledge and skills to Purity Natural Elements, and looks forward to bringing top notch products to everybody in need.
Pamela Beard – Founder and Product Designer
15 years ago, Pam suffered from debilitating depression that lasted about 3 years. While she was sick, she met a naturopath that taught her about herbs and different types of healing modalities. She fell in love with the benefits of herbs.
During her journey, she took an herbology course which granted her the technical understanding of the healing properties of herbs. In 2012, She created her first ointment, Classic, and she decided to share it. She started selling it to her local health food store. It became the most popular healing ointment sold.
Fast forward several years. Pam felt the need to create more ointments and expand her business. With the goal of easing life’s most common health challenges, Pam’s line of products at Purity Natural Elements was born.
In 2022, after fighting for her life against Covid-19, Pamela made the decision to pass Purity Natural Elements to her son and daughter-in-law. They are so excited to continue the the legacy. Pamela continues to design products and advise on the existing product lines.
